It’s a long flight from Ireland to Australia and vice-versa, one leg is over thirteen hours and most people, including myself, try to get some sleep, even if only briefly, during the flight. I make a practice of doing some stretching and, also, attempt to meditate for a while too. During one flight, while I was hoping to meditate or sleep, and most other people were settling down, too, or already asleep, I happened to open my eyes and, as I glanced across to the right-hand aisle, I saw a stewardess stooped over, appearing to be attending to someone’s needs, about six seats forward of the row where I was seated. I was on the left aisle. I watched for a moment and, as I did, I watched her gradually fade away. It was similar to the effect of slowly turning down the contrast control on a television set.
